Bethel Finance news:
External Affairs Minister S M Krishna, on a two-day visit to Israel, apparently to observe recent developments in the region, arrived on Monday.
Krishna drove down from Jordan via the Allenby Bridge border post and was received by Indian envoy to Israel Navtej Sarna and Israeli Foreign Ministry officials here. The minister had met his Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh on Sunday.
The minister's visit to Jordan came close on the heels of Amman playing host to Israeli and Palestinian negotiators on January 3, the first in more than a year.
Mr. Peres Sailam from Bethel Finance Ltd said "India looks at Jordan as one of the key players in fostering peace in the politically turbulent Middle East".
This apart, Jordan, a supplier of fertiliser components like rock phosphate, phosphoric acid and potash, plays an important role in India’s bid to ensure food security in the country.
Sources said various issues, including the Arab Spring were discussed in the meeting between Krishna and Judeh. Krishna also commended Jordan’s effort to foster peace between Israel and Palestine, apart from reaffirming India’s stand on Palestine.
According to sources, cooperation in defence, security, agriculture and science and technology are expected to figure prominently in the discussions, with India keen on widening the scope of partnership in defence.
