New Regency Prods. has signed a first-look deal with Israeli production, management and talent agency ADD.
Partnership will give 20th Century Fox-based Regency access to film and television projects from ADD, run by Yaron Lichtenstein. Company specializes in creating and marketing TV and new media content for the Israeli marketplace. Israeli format adaptations have been on a roll in the U.S., notably the success Showtime has had with its redo of the political drama thriller "Homeland."
"With the amazing success of shows such as 'Homeland' and 'In Treatment,' which were based on Israeli series, we are thrilled to be in business with ADD," said Regency prexy and CEO Brad Weston. "We look at the deal with them as another great step forward as we make our return to the television business."
Regency was active in TV production a decade ago when it scored with the Fox sitcom "Malcolm in the Middle," but the company had largely exited the television business by 2008. Returning to the small screen is a priority for the new regime. Regency has a handful of TV projects percolating, including a drama at HBO, "Beat the Reaper," with Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way banner.
Shingle is in discussions with several candidates to as it looks to recruit one or more television executives.
