Bethel Finance: Israeli Stocks: Alvarion and Shemen Oil & Gas Resources

Israel’s TA-25 Index rose for the second time this week, gaining 0.2 percent to 1,069.58 at 12:29 p.m. in Tel Aviv. The index has declined 1.4 percent this week. The following stocks rose or fell today. Symbols are in parentheses.

Alvarion Ltd. (ALVR IT) surged the most since Oct. 27, rising 7.3 percent to 3.32 shekels. The telecommunication equipment maker said Canada’s Xplornet Communications Inc. conducted successful trials of one of its products.

Shemen Oil & Gas Resources Ltd. (SMOG IT) rose 1 percent on the second day of trading to 20.7 shekels, giving the company a market value of 622 million shekels ($166 million). The shares of the oil and gas explorer sold at 23.5 shekels and declined 23 percent in their first trading day.
