Bethel Finance: Gov't posts deficit for fourth straight month

The government posted a deficit of NIS 838 million (not including credit) in November 2011, the fourth consecutive month with a deficit, the Ministry of Finance reported today. Tax revenues totaled NIS 18.3 billion and expenditures totaled NIS 20 billion.

The deficit fell to NIS 15.1 billion in January-November of 2011 from NIS 17.1 billion in the corresponding months of 2010. The 2011 deficit target is NIS 25.2 billion.

Real estate taxes and fuel excise totaled NIS 20.8 billion in January-November, 6% more than in the corresponding months of 2010. Real estate taxes totaled NIS 6.8 billion in January-November and fuel excise totaled NIS 14 billion.

Real estate taxes totaled NIS 440 million January, and fuel excise totaled NIS 1.36 billion, 5.3% more than in November 2010.

Income taxes totaled NIS 7.3 billion in January, and NIS 86.7 billion in January-November, 5.5% more than in the corresponding period of last year.
