Israel Land Administration (ILA) head Yaron Bibi today told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he is leaving his post.
In explaining his resignation, he said that in the present circumstances he felt unable to push forward the plan to reform the ILA together with Minister of Housing and Construction Ariel Atias. Netanyahu, who had been seeking to oust Bibi, did not give a date for his departure from office.
By law, appointing a new ILA head will require setting up an appointments committee with the candidate who is eventually selected needing the approval of the prime minister, minister of finance and minister of housing and construction.
The ILA reform is designed to make the administration more accessible and less bureaucratic. This will, it is believed, be achieved by transferring some functions to other government departments and outsourcing other functions to private companies.
