Bethel Finances: Shekel continues to slip against dollar

The shekel weakened against the dollar but strengthened against the euro in afternoon inter-bank trading today. The shekel-dollar exchange rate rose 1.19% to NIS 3.462/$ and the shekel-euro exchange rate rose 0.25% to NIS 4.927/€.

Yesterday, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.421/$, up 0.15% on the day before, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.915/€, up 0.25%.

In international markets, the dollar is trading at $1.42/€ against the euro and at ¥80.40 against the Japanese yen. The dollar strengthened against other currencies after Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben S. Bernanke kept the interest rate unchanged, and even though he cautioned about economic difficulties in the US.
