Bethel Finances: April average wage NIS 8,698

The average salary in Israel in April was NIS 8,698, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported today. In the period February to April 2011, the number of salaried jobs rose 1.7%, to 2.964 million, following a 2.4% rise between November 2010 and January 2011.

Trend figures show a rise in the average salary at current prices. In February to April 2011, the average salary rose by an annualized 5%, following a 5.2% annualized rise from November 21010 to January 2011. At fixed prices there was also a rise, though much smaller. In February-April 2011, the rise was 0.6% on an annual basis at fixed prices, while from November 2010 to January 2011 there was an annualized fall of 0.4%.

Once again, Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) and Mekorot National Water Company employees were the foremost beneficiaries of the wage rise. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics figures, the average salary at fixed prices rose by an annualized 5% at those two companies in February-April 2011, following a annualized 2.5% rise from November 2010 to January 2011. By contrast, public sector workers in general saw a 3.4% drop in their average salary in annual terms in February-April 2011, following a 2.4% drop from November 2010 to January 2011.
