Bethel Finances: Doctors holding general strike today

www.bethelfinance.com

In parallel to negotiations these last few weeks with the Ministry of Finance, the doctors have decided to call a general strike today in all Israel's hospitals, including: geriatric, psychiatric, and rehabilitation facilities.

Hospitals will operate on a Sabbath footing with only emergency surgeries being performed and out-patient clinics will be closed. Despite the strike, work in the maternity and intensive care wards, as well as dialysis and oncology, will not be affected by the doctors' strike. Despite the strike, "community" clinics will operate as usual, at the request of the Labor court which is trying to mediate between the sides. In addition, each medical institution that is striking will form an Exceptions Committee to decide which treatments are emergencies, according to the severity of each case.
