Bethel Finance news:
Sources inform ''Globes'' that First International Bank of Israel (TASE: FTIN) EVP chief account division Michal Abadi-Boiangiu will replace Shouki Oren as Account General at the Ministry of Finance. Oren announced his resignation last month.
Abadi-Boiangiu beat a wide field of mostly women candidates for the post, including former Israel Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT) EVP Linda Ben-Shoshan, First International Bank CEO Smadar Barber-Tsadik, and the Account General's representative in New York Sigalit Siag. Government Companies Authority director Doron Cohen was also thought to be a candidate.
Abadi-Boiangiu is a lawyer and accountant. She has a long civil service career. In 2003, then-Minister of Finance Benjamin Netanyahyu appointed her chairwoman of MI Holdings (State of Israel Properties), where she oversaw the privatization of Discount Bank. Abadi-Boiangiu and Netanyahu's relationship soured a few years ago, but she is considered close to Minister of Finance Yuval Steinitz's entourage.
Steinitz said at every opportunity that he wanted to see women in top positions at the Ministry of Finance, and that he would try to appoint a woman to open positions.
