The Hebrew University of Jerusalem widened its revenue lead in 2010, reports Dun & Bradstreet Israel. The university's revenue rose 8% last year to NIS 2.46 billion. Second place Technion Israel Institute of Technology's revenue rose 3% to NIS 2.1 billion, and third place Tel Aviv University's revenue rose 6% to NIS 2.07 billion.
Fourth place Weizmann Institute of Science's revenue rose 6% to NIS 1.7 billion, and seventh place University of Haifa's revenue rose 4% to NIS 703 million.
Two universities saw their revenue fall last year: Bar Ilan University's revenue fell 10% to NIS 1.09 billion, and Ben Gurion University of the Negev's revenue fell 9% to NIS 1.36 billion.
The Open University had the largest revenue growth in 2010 - up 11% to NIS 505 million. Its revenue growth was driven by a 20% increase in government allotments and a 10% increase in tuition to NIS 365 million. Open University had 46,783 students in the last academic year.
Public and private colleges also achieved strong revenue growth. Oranim Academic College led the growth with a 25% increase to NIS 124 million in 2010, of which the government provided NIS 75 million. Ariel University Center of Samaria, Israel's largest public college, had 23% revenue growth to NIS 242 million last year. Israel's largest private college, the College of Management, achieved 8% revenue growth to NIS 291 million.
