The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 0.60% to 1,284.86 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.51% to 1,166.22 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index rose 1.41% to 281.30 points. Turnover was NIS 1.38 billion.
The TASE will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for Memorial Day and Independence Day, respectively.
Halman Aldubi Investment House predicts that the TASE volatility will continue for the foreseeable future.
In the foreign currency market, options pointed to a 0.32% rise in the shekel-dollar exchange rate to NIS 3.458/$, but a 1.13% drop in the shekel-euro exchange rate to NIS 4.95/€.
In the bond market, long-term Shahar unlinked government bonds rose by up to 0.2%, and long-term Galil CPI-linked bonds ranged between losses of 0.1% and gains of up to 0.2%. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.01%.
In the stock market, Perrigo Company (Nasdaq:PRGO; TASE:PRGO) rose 3.3% for the biggest gain among Tel Aviv 25 shares. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Nasdaq: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 1%.
Paz Oil Company Ltd. (TASE:PZOL) was the center of attraction today, rising 0.2% despite the involvement of subsidiaries Paz Aviation Assets Ltd. and Paz Aviation Services Ltd. in a jet fuel contamination mess at Ben Gurion Airport.
Agrochemicals company Makhteshim Agan Industries Ltd. (TASE: MAIN) rose 1.1% after the last Chinese regulator approved the company's takeover by ChemChina. Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) fell 2.2% on the day's largest turnover of NIS 97 million.
Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) rose 0.7%. The company will publish its first quarter financials later this week, which analysts believe will be good. Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) rose 1%, despite a breakdown in its mobile and data services in Haifa and the north this morning.
Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: GILT; TASE: GILT) rose 7.2% after announcing a $120 million contract in Australia.
Protalix Biotherapeutics Inc. (AMEX:PLX; TASE: PLX) rose 5.9% after beating the analysts' forecasts in its first quarter financial report.
Olimpia Real Estate Holdings Ltd. (TASE: OLMP) fell 26.4% after asking bondholders for a postponement in repaying a bond payment.
