Israel's Facebook protest against prices is growing quickly. More than 32,000 people have joined the Facebook group which is calling for a one-month boycott of cottage cheese for July. The group had 5,000 friends 24 hours ago.
Yitzhak Alrov established the community, after he decided to pick up the gauntlet thrown down by hundreds of talkback comments to the "Globes" articles on Israel's high food prices at supermarkets. He is calling for a consumer boycott.
The price of a container of cottage cheese has risen to almost NIS 8, and it is just one of many food items whose prices have soared since they were taken off the list of goods controlled by the government. "Globes" investigated food prices in Israel and its comparison with prices in Europe and the US found that prices in Israel were substantially higher.
