Better Place LLC's first electric car customers in Israel, Australia, and Denmark have yet to receive the electric cars they ordered, however Better Place has set its sights on a new target market: Holland.
Dutch media reports that Better Place will build its first battery replacement station near Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in cooperation with a local engineering company. The station will be used to demonstrate the technology as part Better Place's attempt to convince the Dutch government to adopt the company's battery charging and replacement solution.
"Holland is considered one of the most advanced countries in Europe with regard to the adoption of the electric car. The Dutch government is currently running a special "green transportation" program, through which it will purchase dozens of electric cars of various types to examine their feasibility. Amsterdam is considered a leading city in the field, and two months ago it presented a program to use electric cars in the downtown area. The Dutch government is also considering adopting a series of tax benefits and incentives for electric car use" dais Mr. Cderic Marmet (Bethel Finance Ltd).
Better Place confirmed that it is currently preparing to build a battery replacement station in Holland, and said, "Europe is strategically important to Better Place."
