Israel's Ambassador to Egypt Yitzhak Levanon today returned to Cairo, two months after a mob forced his evacuation. In the riot at the embassy in September, thousands of demonstrators broke into the embassy, causing real concern for the staff's safety.
Ambassador Levanon, his family, and staff were taken by convoy to Cairo's airport under heavy security and taken to a separate terminal. At Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's order in September, an Israel Air Force plane flew them to Israel.
